Awareness of health care staff regarding indicated and contraindicated medication during pregnancy at Kirkuk city hospitals

Background: pregnant women may need medication to manage some of problems occurring during pregnancy. Some of medication considered safe and other unsafe, medical and nursing staff should aware of safe and unsafe medication to prevent further damage to the pregnant women.
Objectives: to assess healthcare worker awareness regarding indicated and contraindicated medication during pregnancy at Kirkuk city hospitals.
Methodology: A quantitative design using descriptive study was carried out at Kirkuk city hospitals from 1st of October, 9117, up to the 1st of October, 9112. A non-probability (purposive) sample of (28) staff working in maternity units was used. A constructed questionnaire was used for the purpose of the study which consisted of two parts: the demographic data of the sample, and the awareness of healthcare worker regarding indicated and contraindicated medication during pregnancy. The data were collected through the use of self-administration techniques they were analyzed through the application of descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical data analysis.
Results: The findings of the study indicated that (81.06) of the samples were working in Kirkuk general hospital, (00.26) were between age group (91-92 years), (076) of the sample were nurses, (03.06) of them were having 1-0 years of experience, and (02.16) do not training in medication session.
Conclusions: most healthcare worker unaware of indicated and contraindicated medication during pregnancy.

Effectiveness of an Education Program on Nurses knowledge concerning in Nursing Management for patients with Third degree and bundle branch block in Kirkuk Teaching Hospitals

Background and Objectives: Heart block is a disease or acquired condition that causes a fault within the heart's natural pacemaker due to some kind of obstruction (or "block") in the electrical conduction system of the heart.Nurses play an important role in maintaining the health and well-being of patients. Aims of the study was to assess the effectiveness of nursing education program on nursing knowledge concerning in nursing management toward third degree and bundle branch block in Kirkuk's teaching hospitals and to identifying the relationship between the nurses' knowledge and their demographic characteristics such as ( age ,gender and education level)
Material and Method :A descriptive study design (quasi experimental study )was carried out at Azadi teaching hospital and Kirkuk general hospital in Kirkuk city for nursing staff who worked at CCU ,RCU unit , emergency unit and internal medicine unit ,from February up to May, 8102. A non – probability (purposive) sample was selected and composed of (21) Nurses (male and female) .Nurses was divided into two groups, study group consisted of (01) nurses exposed to the nursing educational program and control group consisted of (01) nurses were not exposed to the program from Azadi Teaching Hospital and Kirkuk General Hospital in Kirkuk city. The program and instruments were constructed by the researcher for the purpose of the study .The questionnaire was constructed for the purpose of the study which consisted of three parts: the first part include the demographic data (5 ) items (age, gender,residencr , Educational achievement and marital status.The second about training in cardiac care (8) items ( work place and name of training in cardiac care . The third part consist from (02 ) items of general knowledge toward management of third degree of heart block and bundle branch block of heart block. The (SPSS) ver. (8821) was used for data analysis. Mean, SD, and ANCOVA test, compare means were used to analyze the collected data. Level of significance was the threshold at p<1215
Results: There were 01 nurses included in the study. Relative to "Gender" 82(55255) from sample were female are more illustrated, since, also the study shows the high percent of nursese were at age between (81-23 years) and constitute 25(25255) and most of "Age Groups", are focused at the first two groups since .(5825% ) .Also the results shows (%5215) were female. With regard toresidence 82(51215) were living in urban areas, The study findings indicated that there were highly significant differences between pre and post tests in the study group in overall main domains related to nurses' knowldg abou management of third degree heart block and bundle branch block
Conclusion: The study concluded that the effectiveness of educational program regarding nurses' nurses' knowldg abou management of third degree heart block and bundle branch block .

Quality of life for Internally Displaced Teenagers in Rania City

Aims of the study: To determine the quality of life domains and the level of quality of life for internally displaced teenage students in Rania city. And to find out the relationship between the quality life domains and some of their sociodemographic characteristics of the sample such as age, level of education of students, and family income.
Methodology:
Methodology: A descriptive study, using the assessment approach was conducted on Internally Displaced teenage students from the 2nd of August 2015 to the 3rd of February 2016. To achieve the objectives of the study, non-probability sample of (165) students selected for the study. A questionnaire was adapted from the world health organization quality of life (WHOQOL-BREF), a questionnaire (1), for the purpose of the study. The WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire contains two items from the overall quality of life and general Health with (24) items of satisfaction that divided into four domains: Physical health, psychological health, social relationships, and environmental health. Each item is rated on a 5-point Likert scale. Each item of the WHOQOL-BREF scored from 1 to 5 on a response scale. A pilot study was carried out on (10) students for the study questionnaire's reliability through the use of stability (test-retest method). A panel of (5) experts was involved in the determination of the questionnaire's content validity. Data were analyzed through the application of the descriptive statistical data analysis approach (frequency, percentage, mean of scores) and inferential statistical data analysis approach (Pearson correlation coefficient and chi-square).
Result: The study indicated that the majority of the students are aged between (14-16) years old, (77%) of family are nuclear.  Concerning the students' educational level (39.4%), of them was in 3rd class in secondary school. Also the study shows (42.4%), of family income are sufficient, and the majority of the samples were displaced from Al-Anbar province (87.3%). Regarding receiving help from the Iraqi government, the majority of them did not receive help from the Iraqi government. The findings of the study indicated that quality of life was affected by physical, and environmental domain. Age, level of education of students, and family income had significant relationship with quality of life domains.
Conclusion: The quality of life of female teenagers displaced persons affected by their displaced, especially (environmental domain, physical domain, and psychological domain).
Recommendation: Establishing a humanitarian program helps to raise their Qol of displaced persons in all dimensions. Organize a plan of action by the Iraqi government with Iraqi civil society organizations (internal and external organizations) to support teenagers displaced people in all domains of quality of life

Assessment of Female Nursing Students knowledge and practice about Breast Self-Examination in Mosul University

Background and aim: Breast self-examination is a screening method and valuable tool used in an attempt to detect early breast cancer among women.The study aimed to assess the level of knowledge and practice  of nursing female students about breast self-examination in Mosul university.
Materials and method: A descriptive study design was adopted in the study. A systemic random sample of 100 female nursing student were selected in this descriptive study, they  collected  as25 student from each of the under graduated  teaching classes , the study conducted  in a period  from  October 2017 to the  end of march  2018. Data  were collected by using a questionnaire constructed to meet the study objective, it is consisted from five parts, the first one concerned with socio demographic data, second part represent personal history of the participants, third part reflect knowledge and practice of them about breast self-examination that reflect their awareness toward this subjectfourth part identify the source of their knowledge and practice, last part demonstrate the main barriers and limitations caused failure in conducting this examination.
Results: The study founded that 46% of the sample were at 20- 21years old,  91% of them from urban residence, about 66% of the sample having healthy nutritional habits, history of hormonal and menstrual disturbance was found among 30% of the sample, about 73% of female nursing students aware of breast cancer risk that represented by their knowledge  about breast self-examination, but only 23% of them conducting the examination regularly, this is due to their feeling  of wellness and also because of absence of obligation in conducting the examination.
Conclusion: the majority of study sample were  from (20-21) age group, with urban residence Two third of the sample having healthy balance diet, while about one third of sample experience hormonal and menstrual disturbance.   
Recommendation The study recommend for improvement of the practical aspects of breast self-examination via improvement of the teaching curriculum and through mass media

Prevalence of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome among Computer Users in the Mosul University

Aim :To study the prevalence of carpal tunnel syndrome among over use of computer mouse in Mosul University employees.
Method: A cross sectional design study was adopted in a purposive sample of (138) employees using computer in a daily working hours at Mosul University, the sample include both faculty members and administrators. Certain variables such as age, gender and the period of experience of computer work. The investigators use a clinical examination (a Phalen test, Pin Prick and Tournquit test) & nerve conduction test for diagnosis of problem among participants.
Results: Female employees uses computer more than males (92:46). The highest prevalence of carpal tunnel syndrome was found among age group (31-35) with (31%), and among females more than males (2:1). Bachelor employee represent 55.07% of the study sample. The study also found that pregnancy was the most common risk factor among female participants while obesity was the major risk factor among male. The use of analgesia to relieve the symptoms was predominant measure among affected employees.
 Recommendation: avoidance of repetitive trauma for the wrist or any continuous pressure  created by excessive use of computer's mouse,  and weight reduction.   

Assessment of Health Problems for Patients with Goiter in Baghdad Teaching Hospital

Background. Iodine-deficiency disorders are a major public health problem all over the world. Goiter is the most visible manifestation of iodine-deficiency disorder. This study assessed of health problems for patients with goiter in Baghdad teaching hospital.
  Objective:- The study aims to assess health problems for patients with goiter and to find out the relationship between health problems with demographic characteristics.
Methodology: - A descriptive study was carried out in Baghdad teaching hospital for the period from 1\2\2017 to 2\4\2018. A purposive (non probability) sample of (60) patients. Questionnaire was constructed for the purpose of the study. Data were collected through the application of the questionnaire and interview technique. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistical approach (frequency and percentage) and inferential statistical approach (Pearson correlation and mean of score) by using of SPSS 16.0
Results: The study results indicated that the age group was between (20-30) year and most of them less than 30 years old.Most of the study samples(71.7%)  were female, and (60%) were married and (78.3%) living in rural area and (36.7%) were secondary school graduate and (60%) were employed, with(50%) have barely sufficient monthly income. Most of the study sample (40%) were suffering from the disease for period (1-2) years. 
Conclusions:- The findings of the study samples indicated that moderate severity of physiological problems and high severity in some items  such us (Palpitation, Dyspnea, Weakness, and Hand sweat) and also moderate severity in psychosocial problems and high severity in some items such us (Decrease self esteem, Change in body image, Change in eating patterns, and Nervousness). There is strong positive relationship between health problems with (physiological problems and psychosocial problems).              
Recommendation:-The study recommended that educational programs should be constructed or designed for patients toward health care awareness for patients with goiter. The nurse must periodically assess the health of the patient with goiter. The patient is reminded to avoid tea, coffee, cola, and other stimulants.

ASSESSMENTS 0F THE APPLICATION OF NURSING PROCESS IN SURGICAL WARDS

The nursing process is a  problem-solving framework that enables the nursing staff to plan their care for a patents and clients as an individual  or  group basis . This requires nurses to be accountable for the care that they prescribe with care deliver and to keep clear and accurate records of the discussions .Today, one’s ability to use the nursing process is governed by the standards for pre-registration  for any nursing education as outline.
The present study aimed at utilize the nursing process in Mosul teaching hospitals
The initial sample consisted of  (42) nurses  whose were   selected randomly  from surgical and emergency  units at Mosul teaching Hospitals .
the period of data collection for this  study was carried out  from 20-1-2019 until  20-2-2019 . in Ibn-Sina and AL-Jamhuori teaching hospitals.
The results shows a highly significant of all assessment for applications of nursing process at p. value (0.05) 
In conclusions of this study The nursing process it's very important to enhancing the quality of care especially at surgical field and The highly significant number for all elements of nursing process. Furthermore, the nursing staff cant not be able to make any management without nursing process.
Thus the researcher put some recommendations for the current study such as ;the nursing process case sheet should be putting in patient case folder  , to evaluate the patient and his health status systematically, the nursing staff  and health care team  must be educating to how could they using  nursing process and updating, surgical wards should be formulate a time table for all clients to guide them about their care as a schedules .The head of nursing staff  as a adviser must be enrolled with conferences and educations centers to discuss the implementation of nursing process .
